Would working at a gymnastics club as a coach would be considered working at a social service organization?

I want to apply for master in social work and they ask for some experience in working in a social service organization. I have worked at a gymnastics club as a coach for about 6 years and I was wondering if that would be considered as working in a social service organization. What do you guys think ?|||I think working with youth as a coach should be considered as a form of social work. You have given guidance and direction to those young people. You have nothing to lose by discussing this with a counsellor before you apply.

Good luck|||cheater, I know where you live

|||In general NO....unless you are working with youth in an under-served community - youth who would be considered "at-risk", etc.

Now it is still experience working with people - but it is not a social service if it is a recreational program (it is recreational services).

Do you have any other experience? You might want to do some volunteer work in another setting - or being a big sister, etc.

Getting into an MSW program is about your GPA, your essay, references and experience.
